The Voice of the Monarchs, Ted Alexander, takes you Inside Monarch Nation Saturdays at 9:30 am on ESPN Radio 94.1. Tune in for interviews with ODU athletics faculty, staff, and players, and go behind the scenes to learn what’s happening this week at Old Dominion University.

Ted Alexander joined Old Dominion in 2007 when he was named the radio play-by-play voice of the Old Dominion University men’s basketball team. In 2009, he added football to his duties.Alexander has been the ODU voice over several historic Monarch moments, including the 2010 NCAA Tournament win over Notre Dame, the Trey Freeman “shot” to defeat Murray State and send ODU to the NIT Semifinals, and the Monarchs’ win over Virginia Tech.

Prior to his current position, Alexander worked with ODU Sports Properties as the Director of Broadcasting.

He is the ‘Voice of the Monarchs’ as the radio play-by-play voice for ODU football, men’s basketball and baseball. Ted is responsible for coordinating all aspects of radio broadcasts, contributing video content to ODUSports.com and hosting events for the University.

Ted began his professional broadcasting career as a disc jockey at radio stations in West Virginia, Georgia and Maryland. He transitioned to sports television in 1991 and worked in television in Hagerstown, Md., Augusta, Ga. and Norfolk, Va.

Ted won an EMMY award for “The Locker Room,” a high school football highlight show in 2003.

Born in Darien, Conn., Ted graduated from Darien High School and is a graduate of Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications.
